On Wednesday, the Colts signed the veteran wide receiver to a 3-year 21 million dollar deal, giving Andrew Luck yet another offensive weapon. Right now, the Colts offense features a series of talented players including WR TY Hilton, TE Coby Fleener and now WR Andre Johnson and RB Frank Gore.
With this addition, the Colts look ready to challenge the Patriots for the top spot in the AFC, as Andrew Luck hopes to finally best the best in the game, Tom Brady.
The first ridiculous signing was that of former Miami Dolphins DT Jerrid Odrick to a 5 year 42.5 million dollar deal, with 22 million guaranteed. The 27-year-old Odrick comes off a down year for the dolphins, and has only had 16.5 sacks in his five NFL seasons. Therefore, to pay top dollar for a player who has yet to prove himself in this league is quite questionable.
The second bad signing of the day for the Jaguars was of former San Fransisco 49er LB Dan Skuta to a 5 year 20.5 million dollar deal. The 28 year old is coming off of a “career year,” wrapping up 5 sacks for the 9ers in 2014. However, prior to last season Skuta had only played up to 400 snaps per year and had only gotten a half sack- in his entire career. For the Jaguars to go out and sign this guy long-term is raising some eyebrows, as it should, since it is one of the worst signings so far.
