What is the one thing the Seahawks lacked last year? Think about it…. Corners, Check. Safeties, Check. Linebackers, Check. D Line, Check. Quarterback, Check. Running back, Check .
Well, it looks as though Seattle has finally solved their one issue as they have just traded for Pro Bowl TE Jimmy Graham. In trade, the Seahawks give up their starting center Max Unger, who was riddled with injuries last year, but when healthy plays at a pro bowl level. They also swapped 1st and 4th round picks in 2015. However, the Seahawks come out the clear winner in his trade as they have given their offense a lethal weapon that there previous two super bowl teams has not had. This trade not only makes them favorites to win the super bowl this year, but also draws comparisons to the 07’ Pats and 72’ Dolphins.
While most people would assume that the Patriots are the biggest losers of free agency, with the loss of all pro corner Darelle Revis, the long term signing of safety Devin Mccourty softens some of the blow. Instead, the Baltimore Ravens take the top spot as they lost 5 starters from last year. They lost offensive weapons Torrey Smith and Jacobey Jones, two of QB Joe Flaccos biggest weapons on downfield throws. Additionally they lost TE Owen Daniels who was Flaccos favorite TE target in the 2014-15 campaigns.
On the defensive side of the ball, they lost their two interior pass rushers in Purnell Mcphee and Haloti Ngata, two of their premier defensive players. This leaves them with some huge holes on the defensive line and with that being one of the weaker positions in both free agency and the draft, it may be difficult to return to the Patriot-threatening defense they appeared to be at the end of November.
