Last week, it wasn’t star running back Devonte Williams (‘15) or hugely recruited Jonathan Holland (‘15) racking up the offers; it was underclassmen quarterback Dwayne Haskins (‘16) being sought after from the biggest football universities in the country. Dwayne was offered 9 scholarship offers in one week, making him the hottest recruit and biggest up and coming quarterback in the country.
Dwayne made 3 great performances, winning MVP at the Rivals DC Camp, Elite 11 Quarterback Camp, and the Nike Football Training Camp. Winning MVP at these camps turned heavy interest from colleges to scholarship offers quickly.
“All of them [scholarship offers] were surprising, but getting that Buckeye offer was special because that is my dream school” Dwayne said. “They just came pouring in; I’m blessed” he added.
Dwayne had a successful sophomore season, leading the Bulldogs’ attacking offense and winning an IAC championship. Dwayne currently holds 19 scholarship offers, including schools such as Florida State, Maryland, Ohio State, Boston College, and Notre Dame to name a few. Dwayne hopes to add to this list over the summer by attending more camps and visiting more universities.
