There are a lot of big name players that many people know and some we have not heard of. The Bullis Bulldog Sports section will be giving a top player and sleeper expectation for each position.
Top Player: Jared Goff (QB Cal)
The most natural passer in the Combine will look to show more of his athleticism and arm strength that some analysis don’t give him enough credit for. An expected first round pick out of Cal Berkeley is going to solidify his spot as one of the top quarterbacks.
Sleeper: Carson Wentz (QB North Dakota State)
A football player first Wentz is high on many people boards. I believe he is a great player but a good quarterback. Analysis such as Todd McShay has him as the No. 1 rated QB, I think he will be the first QB off the board bases of leadership, football smarts and intangibles some aspects he will definitely show at the combine.
Top Player: Ezekiel Elliott The best back to come out of college football in the last few years will prove why at the combine. A well liked person, crazy athlete and a team player will solidify his position on many boards. He is the best blocking back in this class and has the best home run ability with proven flim and true 4.4 speed.
Sleeper: Kenyan Drake The other dynamic back out of Alabama other than Derrick Henry has seemed to play for the Tide for years. Never the number one back at his own respective school but it’s Alabama. He is a solidified playmaker and does it out of the slot, return game and most importantly running back. Look for him to run a sub 4.4 and be drafted in the Top 3 rounds.
Top Player: Corey Coleman
Not much of a surprise here, He broke the touchdown record this year with over 25 receptions for scores. The electrifying playmaker out of Baylor is going to go first round without a doubt. Not an overwhelmingly huge guy but jumps out the gym with a 42’’ inch vert and true 4.4 speed. WIthout a doubt number one receiver this year.
Sleeper: Braxton Miller
He has been a playmaker since freshman year at Ohio State. Started out as a quarterback he is transitioning to wide receiver. Only 34 receptions and 3 touchdowns he still a playmaker. He has the it factor. He is going to run a sub 4.4 maybe even run a 4.35. Miller will only up his draft stock as he did so at the Senior Bowl. He will be selected before the 2nd round is over.
Top Player: Hunter Henry
The playmaker out of Arkansas has drawn comparison to NFL Great Jason Witten. He is not going to have outstanding numbers but he will run block like no other and has really sticky hands. This is not a huge class for tight ends so Henry’s stock will go up.
Sleeper: Nick Vannett
Used primarily as a run blocker, Vannet has huge potential. He moves like a wide receiver but blocks like a fullback. It seems as though his stock goes up everyday. It definitely will in the draft providing his measurables and his former collegiate name.
*Laremy Tunsil will not be participating due to injury
Top Player: Ronnie Stanley
The tackle from Notre Dame is a beast. He stands at 6’6 315 pounds and is projected to go first round. Lineman don’t usually run fast but he will crack a 5 second forty. With tackle being a big need in the draft his stock will go up.
Sleeper: Taylor Decker
The 6’7 monster looks to play left tackle in the NFL. He will prove he can in the draft with his explosive capability and strength in the bench press. He just proves the caliber of players that come out of Ohio State has great pedigree.
