The Washington Capitals had another great regular season. It appears that the regular season is all they play for, though.
The Caps dropped a game last night 3-1, so we all know what is coming next. I am too smart of a fan to know better. Coming home will surely be disappointing.
Choking in the playoffs is this team's strength...As always. That is no different this year. The Caps entered the NHL playoff as a high seed. The squad opened up the first round against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Some people expected the Capitals to dominate the series… LOL. The real Caps fan’s knew that wouldn’t be the case. They dropped the first two games to the Jackets. However, we should have known not to worry. The Caps love getting the fans really excited before they break all of our hearts. Because of this, the Caps decided that the first round was not the round to choke. The fans needed to become more involved first. Hence, they were able to squeak by the Blue jackets (4-2); they just weren’t ready to choke yet!!
Now that the series is tied 2-2, the Capitals are again preparing for a wild finish against the Penguins. Will this be the year the Caps finally eliminate the Penguins from the playoffs? They got us excited; time for the let down? I think so. The Caps have at most two home games remaining and game 5 is the most crucial. If the Caps could win game 5 in Washington and travel to Pittsburgh up 3-2 in the series, life will be much easier for the men in red. However, as history shows, the Caps will probably choke. For the past decade the Caps have had this opportunity and have done nothing with it. Could the Caps change this? This is the best opportunity they’ll get. Let’s see if the Washington Capitals take advantage of it. I doubt it.
After the game, everything seemed normal. Why? The answer is simple, every Caps fan hopes they will win, but deep down they all know it is to good to be true.
