The Student Handbook is where students can go to find the rules of the school. While many of these rules are well-known by the students, there are a few rules that students are surprised by. Below are some of the more peculiar rules found in the handbook.
“No gum or candy is permitted in the Middle School” (74)
Middle School students, mostly at the ages of 12-14, can not chew gum or have candy. While it is important to prevent gum from being stuck under desks, it is equally important to not smell students' breath after lunch.
“Music players and iPods should never be brought to school” (55)
On this rule an anonymous student said, “I was really hoping to listen to the Green Day on my Ipod nano”
“Bells ring at 7:55, signaling that students should head to the classrooms.” (48)
Those bells are very loud. I mean they're so loud I almost can’t hear them.
“Students can send text messages but cannot make phone calls” (56)
What if my parents still have a nokia or a flip phone. My grandparents don’t know how to send texts. No one ever looks at the screens in the hallways.
