Ray Butler has worked at Bullis as a football coach since 2010 and as a security guard since 2012. Ray Butler first began working at Bullis after reaching out to an old friend from college.
“Me and Coach Cilento played football in college and I wanted to get into high school coaching after coaching a youth league team, so I decided to call Coach Cilento up, my old teammate, and he got me a job working here. “ Says Butler.
In all his years working at Bullis, both coaching and working security, he still holds one moment from his first year above all others. “[My favorite Bullis memory, was winning] our first IAC title. My first year here we went 9-1 and won the title.” says Butler.
Butler claims that the main differences between his high school experience and the high school experience at Bullis is that “it’s more of a struggle in public school, but here it’s a little more relaxed.”
However these differences have not kept Ray Butler from feeling completely embraced by the community that he loves.
“The kids and the faculty and the staff and the parents, they embrace me, they’re just wonderful people and i enjoy coming to work everyday, communicating the kids the parents and the staff.” says Butler. It is because he is so embraced by the Bullis community that he is able to form such strong bonds with the students, staff, and parents of the school.
Infact, Ray Butler says that his greatest accomplishment at bullis is “communicating with young people and building relationships with the kids so they can trust me and just being a mentor around campus.”
