Heading into the 2014-2014 school years, expectations are at an all-time high for class representatives. As the class sizes expand, so too does the number of representatives, and to find out more about what to expect from these class reps the bulldog spoke with Ms. Hosmer, about the upcoming class reps.
KH: As the upper school expands we look to expand our student government representation. We went from 3 reps to 5 reps this year and with those 5 reps we have high expectations with structured rules in place to have a more successful year next year.
ME: What are your expectations for next year?
KH: A lot more activity planning and as an end result we’re going to have a lot more upper school community builders, with some cross-grade activities. So, I’m really excited about next year.
The addition of two new reps gave more students the opportunity to run, as each grade saw a plethora of students run for SGA positions. The speeches were given last Wednesday during Class meetings, and the voting took place the following lunch period. Campaigning reps attempted to woo the crown in a variety of different way; promising everything from longer snack breaks to promising no more bad weather.
Results were posted on the walls of north hall later that week, and the new class reps were born.
“We expect a lot of big things next year. It’s going to be difficult, but we think we can really make a change” newly appointed Junior class rep Jonah Nielsen said. “Im very excited for next year.
