#1. Her Name Was Emma
This story is one of my personal favorites, because it drives me nuts, searching for a logical explanation as to how a story like this could’ve been created. The story is told from the perspective of a girl within a group of five friends, from 4th grade to 12th grade, and into her college years. The girl’s friends invite a new girl to sit at their lunch table in 4th grade, a girl named “Emma”. The girl knows her friends are playing a prank on her, as she can’t see Emma, and there is no sign of her actually existing. However, things get curious and a bit intense as the prank progresses and leads into their final year of high school.

#2. The Smiling Owl
If night creatures didn’t scare you enough as it is (I actually happen to find owls adorable), then this tale of a strange, smiling owl will surely unsettle you. Our narrator awakes at 2:47am to a disgusting taste in their mouth after only an hour and a half of sleep. The situation slowly escalates as they’re joined by a smiling owl sitting outside their apartment window. (Warning: a bit gory).

#3. My Girl
Here’s a bit more of a realistic one – although I’m sure none of this would happen to you. A love story turns sour when the female partner’s mother dies, and our narrator is concerned for her safety, watching her constantly. She begins to think her mother’s ghost is trying to contact her, when you realize, the lovers aren’t so.. lovey?
