More teams meant more competition. This year the competition was tough, every bracket was filled with 8 teams all possessing their own strengths and weaknesses. The teacher team, “Suits and Ties” were seen as front-runners in the competition and were expected to make it to the finals, however, they lost to the Mighty Ducks in the Semi Finals.
The final tournament was between the “Pink Panthers”, last year’s champions, and the “Mighty Ducks”. The Pink Panthers were made up of Chris Mavrikes, Brenden Cogdell, Raffy Baumgardner, Chris Snell and Langston Stephens and coaches, Zachary Lee and Wyatt Wisnosky. The Mighty Ducks, a team made up of senior boys, was made up of Ben Brown, Nathan Calem, Will Gansler, Chris Reneberg and Blair Signora and coaches Tommy Blair and Ethan Tauber. It was a very close game which was cheered on by the majority of the upper school. The Pink Panthers prevailed and won the championship for the second year in a row. The first ever dodgeball trophy was awarded to the Pink Panthers who will sign the golden dodgeball that will remain in the trophy case in Founders Hall.
This year the costume competition was just as tough as the dodgeball playing itself. Many teams came wearing clever and funny costumes that did not go unnoticed. “Outta this world” won the most elaborate costume, “Cool Running’s” won most original and “The Mariachis” won funniest costume.
Overall this year’s dodgeball tournament was a success. Congratulations to the Upper School for raising this money for a great research foundation!
