He is a team captain of the Bullis lacrosse team and he comes from Great Falls Virginia, a highly competitive lacrosse area.
Senior attackman Alex Trippi (‘17) is also the fourth best high school lacrosse player in the country. He wasn’t always at the top of the list but has worked to improve over the years. “I’ve been playing lacrosse since I was 6 years old so I guess you can say I know the game pretty well.”
Lacrosse is a unique sport where players usually know if and where they will commit in the first two years of high school. Trippi (‘17) committed during his freshman year, but before then he wasn’t sure about his lacrosse future. “I thought I had to get a lot better in order to play college lacrosse, but I kept working really hard in hopes that I would get a chance”
Trippi’s recruitment started in ninth grade, which is a pretty stressful year by itself. However, this adjustment period did not phase Trippi. “It felt pretty normal because two of my really good friends were also getting recruited so we would just talk about it with each other. That made it a lot less stressful”.
Family also played a huge role in his recruitment. “I talked to my brother and sister, who were both in college and they gave me tips on how to choose schools so it definitely made me feel better about it”
The recruitment process for Trippi ended when he fell in love with the University Of North Carolina Chapel Hill and their coaching staff. “I really liked how the coach at UNC makes the lacrosse team feel like family and he’s one of the nicest college coaches out there. I also loved the campus and the student life appealed to me”
Although the coaches and campus are appealing, Trippi explained that academics played a big role as well. “Another reason I chose UNC is because I knew it was a really hard school to get into and that can help me when my playing days are over.”
Alex Trippi and the rest of the Bullis lacrosse team look to add another IAC title to their résumé. Through leadership and dedication Alex Trippi looks to experience another successful season.
