The Spring is coming, Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog did not see his shadow, signaling that Winter is coming to a close. With third trimester approaching, seniors are finishing their tenure at Bullis.
As their time comes to a close, the Seniors have less work on their plates than everyone else. This allows them to experience their last trimester more. At all kinds of events during the week, you will see more seniors than any other grade; this is partly because of school spirit but also because we have the time to enjoy ourselves.
Seniors are coming out of the difficult part of the year, with college deadlines and applications behind them it is almost time to enjoy ourselves. Juniors are just beginning their process, trust us it does not get easier.
The free time allows us to focus on what we want to do, “I can watch more film for lacrosse and get better with the extra time I have,” said senior Thomas White.
This is the beginning of the last lasts, and seniors are focused on making sure we enjoy that time, “Spend more time with my friends, it allows us to be together more as our last few months in the same place approaches,” said White (‘19).
It can be difficult to spend time with other grades because they still have a full workload and preparation for the next step in life ahead of them. Even though after school activities take the majority of students well into the night time. After is where the differences show.
With seniors traveling far from home, the amount of work eases their schedule, “I got home last night at around 8:00, and I had a project due, and was up until midnight working on it. This morning, I woke up at 5:00 just to get to the bus stop and get here by 7:30,” said senior Nendah Tarke.
It provides students who travel from far away with an opportunity to be on a more friendly schedule with timing.
If you want to stay for extra work or practice or get food, it is difficult for underclassmen to stay or join you. The parity in the time available grows as the year goes on, “For me, Junior year has been stressful because we are getting your college counselors and it puts pressure on me to do well, and that school is really important this year because colleges are focusing on it,” said junior Augustus Weiner.
The spring represents a changing of the guard, as every grade takes on more responsibility, the seniors get their chance to relax.
