What recently emerged on Daft Punk’s official website though stunned and electrified fans and critics alike. “Computerized” is the name of the masterpiece and its feature none other than Hip-Hop legend and entrepreneur JayZ. The song is different, fresh and timely. It tells the story of how our dependence on technology has consumed our lifestyle. The robotic voices spurt out the chorus over the light mellow beat: “Everyone will be computerized”. JayZ cautions how we lose touch to reality by depending on technology. The lines “ I got an ITouch but I can’t feel” and “I don’t know how I feel, somebody tell me what’s real” underline this message.
With ‘Computerized’ Daft Punk and JayZ have molded a lively, electronic work of art that differs from others through its critical stance on our present society.
Questions though remain. Why was the record not promoted, when was it recorded and, more importantly, is it real?
While die-hard Daft Punk fans have determined that the song contains some of Daft Punks melodies from “Song of Flynn” used for the film Tron: Legacy, JayZ’s bars seem untraceable and seem purposefully tailored to this track. Until the two musical phenomena’s confirm or deny any collaboration with one another the track’s origins remain mere speculations. Until then “Computerized” remains another phenomenal masterpiece veiled in mystery among the likes of Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
